Share Your Stories

Please share your thoughts with us. Few, if any, of us have ever experienced anything like the COVID-19 pandemic. The governors of Indiana and Michigan issued stay-at-home orders, and many of us were not able to go to our jobs or enjoy leisure activities like restaurants, theaters, baseball games, or museums. We could not gather in groups, or visit friends or family. We were asked to practice social-distancing–a term we quickly learned–in order to stay a safe distance from others who may unknowingly had COVID-19. Uncertainty, worry, and frustration was all too familiar for many of us. We know there were better days ahead while we were living through a frighteningly unique and historic time.

With that in mind, we are asking you to help us record history as it happens by sending us your writings, videos, or photographs of the COVID-19 crisis. What are you thinking as you move through your days? How was your job affected by the crisis? What were challenges you didn’t expect? How were you and your family finding ways to deal during this exceptional time?

You see, the mission and responsibility of The History Museum is to collect people’s stories and preserve them for posterity. As the second largest historical society in the state of Indiana, we hold over 150,000 letters, journals, photographs, and other archival items that help us document history.

In time, we will also ask you to bring us physical objects that have been significant during that period.
