Children Eating Ice Cream

From this 1946 picture, it appears that youngsters of the 1940s liked ice cream cones as much as we all do today. Take a look at the item at the bottom of the picture and you’ll see that they also played some of the same games still popular. Barely visible is a jump rope. There are still a few brick streets, like the one shown in the picture’s left, that can be found in the area, but asphalt and cement roadways were definitely on their way in by the 1940s. The youngster second from the left is Paul Sidorowicz, who donated the picture to The History Museum.
